Ep 105-Respectable Sins: Envy & Jealousy
Thursday Sep 15, 2022
Thursday Sep 15, 2022
Continuing on our Respectable Sins study, we come to the sins of envy and jealousy. These are areas that have become great struggles in our culture today, especially in connection with social media. Facebook and Instagram have allowed us to have an intimate look into the "highlight reel" of other's lives. This often does more damage than good if we are not seeking wisdom in how we navigate these platforms.
In this episode, I share ways that I have battled these feelings and what God has taught me through those struggles. I Timothy 6:6 says, "But godliness with contentment is great gain." We need to learn to trust in the sovereignty of God and find contentment in the things He has gifted to us instead of comparing ourselves to others. Comparison is the first step that leads to the downward spiral of the sins of envy and jealousy. In our pursuit of Christlikeness, the sins of envy and jealousy should have no place on the throne of our hearts.

Titus 2 Talks- The Young Women, to be Good
Monday Sep 12, 2022
Monday Sep 12, 2022
As Denise and I continue our study through Titus 2, we come to the word "good." What does this word mean? Strong's concordance says that this is the widest and colorless work with this meaning. So what does God have for us to learn about being "good".
Denise compares Scripture with Scripture and draws out the connection that God is making between this command for the aged women to teach the young women to be good and the Proverbs 31 woman who uses her tongue for kindness. Who is to be the recipient of our good/kind speech? It should be our husbands, children, and others God has put in our sphere of influence!
God has much for us to learn in the word "good." We pray that it will convict and challenge your hearts as much as it did ours!

Ep 104- Modesty: A Heart Issue
Thursday Sep 08, 2022
Thursday Sep 08, 2022
Modesty can quickly become a hot button topic. There are many differing opinions on what modesty is, or what it should be. The only opinion that should define how we live our lives is God's opinion! In this episode, we dig into this topic and see what God has to say about modesty.
I do not give a guideline for what you should or shouldn't wear. While I have strong convictions on this issue, I would never want someone to dress or present themselves in a certain way because "that's what Brettnay does." Our desire for modesty should come out of heart that desires to bring God glory in how we dress, act, and present ourselves. When someone looks at a Christian woman, they should see the beauty of the inward, not the temporal beauty of the outward.

Ep 103- Steps Toward a Healthy Cycle with Megan Kay
Thursday Sep 01, 2022
Thursday Sep 01, 2022
Megan Kay joins me in this episode to discuss women's menstrual health. Having been told throughout her teens and early 20s that extreme period pain was "normal" and could be managed by the birth control pill, Megan thought she had no other option. PCOS and Endometriosis (and all the complications that came with that) became things that controlled her health and physical well-being. Wanting freedom from the pain and dependency on medicine, she started trying more natural approaches to managing her condition. This led to diet changes and using natural, reusable menstrual products. These simple changes made a huge difference in her health. She shares why that's the case, and testimonies of hundreds of other women who have experienced the same thing!

Ep 102- Respectable Sins: Judgmentalism
Monday Aug 29, 2022
Monday Aug 29, 2022
Ephesians 4:29 "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."
Philippians1:27 "Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ ..."
Our Respectable Sins study has brought us to the sin of judgmentalism. This is one that has cast a bad light on Christianity. Instead of the world seeing believers unify with the goal of spreading the gospel, they see us divided and arguing over lesser things. We must use our tongues for edification! That is how our conversation will become the gospel of Christ.
We look at this sin from a few different angles as we are challenged to hold to strong, biblical convictions while extending grace to ourselves and to others. We are all on this sanctification journey together. Let's encourage each other instead of casting others down to elevate ourselves. May we accept the charge in Ephesians 4:15 to always speak the truth in love!

Ep 101- Let’s Go on an Adventure
Thursday Aug 25, 2022
Thursday Aug 25, 2022
We recently went on a 2 week trip through Florida with our four kids in tow. I received many messages (as well as stares along the way!) asking how we manage to travel with so many littles! Well, it isn't easy and we ended every day in utter exhaustion, but it was SO worth it!
On this episode, I share different tips and tricks we've learned through our extensive traveling to help make things a bit more smooth when adventuring with littles.
Several topics covered include. . .
-How to keep them entertained in the car
-How to pack
-Ways to vacation on a budget
-What to do when things don't go according to plan
I hope this episode gives you the courage to tackle an adventure together! The memories are worth it!

Ep 100- A Word Fitly Spoken with Lauren Corley
Thursday Aug 18, 2022
Thursday Aug 18, 2022
"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear." Proverbs 25:11-12
Lauren Corley joins me in this episode to discuss how we, as mothers, can take advantage of teachable moments and use our words to teach all that is true, good and godly. She says, "Often our children's hearts are open to receive wisdom and instruction...but, my mind is busy and focused on the many tasks before me, easily missing the open door." God has been teaching Lauren to focus her attention towards intentional instruction. She shares some practical advice on what this looks like on a daily basis in her home as she raises her young sons for the Lord.
These are a few of the practical things she implements. . .
*correcting wrong attitudes and guiding behavior patiently + frequently, not simply because I am *finally* frustrated.
*creating spiritual conversation! “I’m looking at the moon, mama...I like the moon!”
“Do you know who made the moon, bud?”
“God did!”
*having a goal of pointing my boys to Christ in times of joy + struggle, and showing them their need for His saving grace.
*Stopping to savor the sweet times. Snuggling them a little longer, getting on their level to play, reading one more story, and pausing my work to patiently answer the 274th toddler question of the day.

Titus 2 Talks- The Young Women, to be Keepers at Home
Monday Aug 15, 2022
Monday Aug 15, 2022
The ideology of our culture has caused us to cringe when we hear "keepers at home." Does this mean that God's design is for women to be stuck at home doing menial tasks? Absolutely not! That actually couldn't be farther from the truth. If we deem home as menial, it shows our own lack of understanding of God's beautiful design for the home and womanhood. Every meal made, shirt washed, and floor swept is a part of God's work in this world. How can that be possible? Because it is through this loving care that souls are nourished and cultivated.
Denise and I dig into this little phrase "keepers at home", and we seek to share with you what God taught us- that we have a high calling! There is really no higher calling! Whether you are married or not, whether you have children or not, we all have homes that God intends for us to use for His glory and for the advancement of the Gospel. This study challenges us to do all to the glory of God!
What if we decided to work hard and pursue excellence in our homemaking? The only way to purse excellence is to pursue Christ. What place does He have in our hearts and homes?
Psalm 127:1 "Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it."
"The home is the beating heart that powers everything else." -Rebekah Merkle

Ep 99-Tips for a Successful School Year
Thursday Aug 11, 2022
Thursday Aug 11, 2022
It's that time of year- back to school! Right now, everyone is a buzz with excitement, but often that fades. How can we determine to have a successful school year?
In this episode, I share wisdom I've gleaned from experienced home school moms and educators on how you can keep your heart anchored in your purpose for education and have a successful year.
Proverbs 18:15 says, "The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge." The purpose of education is to ignite a love of learning and expose our children to a feast of the intricacies of this complex world that God has created. Through learning science, history, math, and language, we come to know more about the God behind it all. And what an incredible God He is!
He will equip you with all you need to be the best educator for your children. When you ask for wisdom, you can trust that it is a prayer request He greatly desires to answer for you! That is the anchor of a successful school year- to continually seek wisdom from God. Beyond that, I discuss things like establishing non-negotiables for each day, having a consistent morning and evening routine. creating anchor points throughout the day, and more!

Ep 98- The Windows of Heaven
Thursday Aug 04, 2022
Thursday Aug 04, 2022
Simeon joins me in this episode to talk about being a wise steward with finances. This is not an area that we have mastered, but we have received much godly wisdom from others that has helped us as we seek to glorify the Lord with the funds He has blessed us with.
Malachi 3:10 says, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” There is only one other place in Scripture where the phrase "the windows of heaven" is mentioned. Simeon addresses this, and it is an incredible parallel!
In this episode, we discuss-
*Creating a budget
*Obeying the Lord by brining the tithe
*Giving to the Lord beyond the tithe
*Faith promise giving
*Stewarding your household well
*Following the Spirit's leading in regards to blessing others through giving
