Ep 58- Having God‘s Greatest Blessing in 2022
Friday Dec 31, 2021
Friday Dec 31, 2021
Here we are on the precipice of a brand new year! It's been such a wonderful journey seeing all that God has done through No Higher Calling in 2021. In this last episode of the year, I want to close out the year seeking to be an encouragement to my listeners. Recently, a sermon was preached at our church that God used to speak to my heart. As I was praying for direction for this final episode of 2021, I believe God wants me to share what I learned through that sermon.
What is one blessing that you think, "If I could just have God break through in this situation, this would be the greatest blessing of 2022!"? What really is the greatest blessing we could receive from the Lord? The greatest blessing we could receive it to have God use our lives for His glory. Maybe that wasn't your answer to the question above, but it's true! The greatest thing God could do for you in 2022 is to use you.
We see this lived out in the lives of different characters in the Christmas story. Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, the wise men- all of these people were faithful in their ordinary callings. It was out of the ordinary, that God used them to accomplish something extraordinary!
Ladies, let's be faithful in the everyday ordinary tasks God has called us to. Let's be faithful to obey God in every area. Labor for the Lord and keep you eyes stayed on Him. He may not give you a spectacular story, but He WILL do with your life whatever brings Him most glory, and you most good. Whether that's accomplished by faithful service or a miraculous moment is His to decide. As we enter a new year, my challenge to you is to determine to obey however He leads!

Ep 56- Preparing for a New Year
Thursday Dec 23, 2021
Thursday Dec 23, 2021
Ready or not, we are about to enter a new year! I always love starting a new year. It's a fresh start, and a good opportunity to take inventory of my life and ask God what He has for me in the new year.
Over the years, my goal-setting has changed, and this year is probably the most different year yet. As I've gotten older and grown in my walk with Christ, I seek to bathe each new year in prayer and to know God's mind as I try to make changes and set goals. This year, God has led me to some specific things that I can measure and check of my list, and others are more difficult to measure. He continues to guide my heart to those things, so I will follow.
Maybe some of my struggle is not knowing what 2022 will look like for our family. I think many of us feel that way. What will 2022 look like on a world-wide scale? Only God knows! But we can face the new year with courage because God goes before us, and we are victorious in Him!
I'm so excited to see all that God has in store for the upcoming year. We have a certain future, and it is one of hope and joy!

Ep 55- Simple, Natural Living with Rebecca Grant
Thursday Dec 16, 2021
Thursday Dec 16, 2021
The past few years have had our family on a journey towards more simple, natural living. I've been learning about the products and foods we have in our home, and have been taking small steps to switch out toxic products for more healthy options. The more I learn, the more I realize the importance of being a wise steward in the choices of what we allow to affect our bodies.
Rebecca Grant joins me in today's episode to discuss the path to simple, natural living. She addresses why this is an important topic to address in your home, and easy ways to switch out toxic products for cleaner options.

Ep 54- A Christ-Centered Christmas
Thursday Dec 09, 2021
Thursday Dec 09, 2021
The Christmas season brings so many distractions. I think I'd be safe to assume that we've all had Decembers where we end the month exhausted, overwhelmed, and so happy that all the hype is over. I know I've had years like that! The older my kids get, the more intentional I have to be to guard our hearts and homes from being consumed with things that are secondary. I love every tradition, celebration, party, and so on, but where does the emphasis of Christmas really lie?
In this episode, I share ways that God has helped me, as the homemaker, keep Christ the center of our home during Christmas. Most of what we do flows out of what we do throughout the rest of the year. If Christ hasn't been the focal point of our home throughout the year, it will be hard to flip a switch and make Him preeminent in December.
These are some specific ways we seek to keep Christ in His proper place in our home during Christmas, but really all throughout the year:
-Playing Christ-honoring music
-Memorizing Scripture as a family
-Studying the Bible together
-Looking for Gospel opportunities
How do you keep Christ the center of your Christmas?

Ep 51- Hospitality to the Traveler
Thursday Nov 18, 2021
Thursday Nov 18, 2021
We've looked at many different aspects of hospitality on the No Higher Calling podcast, but this episode does a deep dive into extending hospitality overnight. Being on deputation for the past 2 years and traveling all over the eastern United States, I have learned many good tips, and several things to avoid, as our family has gained experience as the traveler.
Hebrews 13:2 says, “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” The original language translates strangers as travelers and angels as those who share the message of the gospel. God commands us to remember to extend hospitality to those who travel, often in ministry capacities.
Once the foundation of the biblical command to show hospitality in this area is established, I transition into practical ways to be a blessing to those who are staying overnight in your home. These tips have been complied from our travels, and from other missionary ladies who have shared what has and hasn't been helpful for their families.
Topics include:
-What is helpful to have in a guest room
-Things to think through as you host guests overnight (sleeping arrangements, laundry accessibility, dietary needs)
-How to communicate schedules, meals, etc
-Cleaning and decluttering for hosting guests
There is such a reward in obedience to Christ, especially in this area of extending hospitality. Get your entire family involved. Watch God give blessings and rewards to each family member as you work together to serve and bless others.

Ep 50- Chatting All Things Kitchen
Thursday Nov 11, 2021
Thursday Nov 11, 2021
Join me on this episode as I chat about all things kitchen! The topics are pulled from an Instagram Q & A where ladies asked about things they struggle with in their kitchen. Topics such as my favorite kitchen appliances and tools, meal planning, healthy cooking, cooking with littles under foot, and more are discussed!
As I'm working to take baby steps of growth in my kitchen, I share things I've learned along the way. So much of the serving we extend to our loved ones and others stem from our kitchens. This episode seeks to give ideas and practical ways to have a kitchen that runs more smoothly and serves your family delicious, whole food meals.

Ep 49- The Greenhouse Effect with Denise Palmer
Thursday Nov 04, 2021
Thursday Nov 04, 2021
Denise Palmer joins me in this episode to discuss the greenhouse effect and the part it plays in parenting. Often, parents think that their children are to be salt and light in a dark world. That is false. There will come a time for them to stand strong for Christ, but while they are young, we are to be cultivating their hearts. Denise uses the illustration of plants to illustrate this greenhouse effect. The child is the tender plant, God's Word is the soil, and the parents are the greenhouse. It is the responsibility of Christian parents to protect and prepare the soil of our children's hearts.
Denise walks through several stages of a child's spiritual development, and shares truths on what we should be doing as parents to guide them to a knowledge of Christ as Savior.
