Ep 70- Preparing for a New Baby
Thursday Mar 10, 2022
Thursday Mar 10, 2022
There is so much preparation that goes into having a new baby. Whether it is your first, or your tenth, there's always a certain level of prep work required as you get ready to add a new member into your family.
Many ladies have requested that I share how I'm preparing for my upcoming birth of baby #4. This is a huge topic to cover, so I tried to keep it pretty specific to how I'm preparing for my baby.
As I prepare for my 4th birth, but 2nd natural, homebirth, the preparation has been a bit different than it ever has before. I have been investing a lot of Scripture memory and prayer time into preparing my mind for natural birth, which in turn greatly affects how the body responds! I've been researching how to best nourish and support my postpartum body which has led to some freezer cooking prep. Simeon and I have been talking through how we work together to give me and baby time to recover, rest, and bond. We've been encouraging our children to be big helpers when Baby arrives, as well as some other prep things that will be unique to this birth experience.
Not everything I share will apply to every mama, but it will give things to think through if you are in a season of preparing to welcome a new little one.

Ep 69- Great Hymns for Growing Hearts
Thursday Mar 03, 2022
Thursday Mar 03, 2022
I have been keeping a HUGE secret. . . I just published my first book- Great Hymns for Growing Hearts!! This has been an incredible project that has had a life-changing impact on our home. In this episode, I share my heart and how God led me to write this book.
This is a wonderful resource, and one that I believe needs to be in every Christian home! As we seek to pass truths about God and His Word onto future generations, this is a wonderful way to accomplish that goal. Music has a way of rooting itself deep into the mind and heart. Let's use that to etch the character of who God is deep into the hearts of our children!

Ep 68- The Midwifery Care Model with Rebekah Mustaleski
Saturday Feb 26, 2022
Saturday Feb 26, 2022
It was such an honor to interview my midwife, Rebekah Mustaleksi, and hear her talk about the midwifery model of care. At 34 weeks pregnant with Ivy, we made the decision to switch to Roots & Wings Midwifery for a home birth. Best decision ever!! Now with this new baby on the way, I've had the opportunity to experience a complete (well, up to this point) pregnancy with my midwives. Having birthed in both a hospital and home atmosphere with medicated and unmedicated experiences, I've gotten to see different approaches to the process of pregnancy and birth.
I understand that every woman is different, and not everyone desires what I would consider my best birth scenario. So many ladies have asked me about the differences between my birth experiences, and we address many of those differences in this episode.
As an expectant mama, it is wonderful to know you have options! Whatever you decide, knowing you have choices gives you and your husband things to pray through and consider as you make the best choice for your family.
I hope this episode will shed some light on midwifery care and home birth. Simeon and I could not be more thankful for the birth and pregnancy experiences the midwifery care model has afforded us. I could not be more excited about delivering another baby with Roots & Wings!

Ep 67- Lessons Learned from Little Pilgrim’s Progress
Thursday Feb 24, 2022
Thursday Feb 24, 2022
Little Pilgrim's Progress by Helen Taylor (a children's rendition of the beloved Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan) has been the read-aloud I've been going through with my littles. We have been so captivated by this story! The truth presented in this book has laid a foundation for me to go deeper into many topics such as the Gospel, the importance of having godly friends, wisdom vs foolishness, walking in the way of the King, and more! I share some of our favorite lessons we've learned as we've journeyed with little Christian to the Celestial City.

Titus 2 Talk: The Aged Women
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Monday Feb 14, 2022
What a joy it is to have my spiritual mentor, Denise Palmer, joining me once a month for a Titus 2 Talk! On these special episodes, Denise and I will be doing a deep dive into the truths God has taught us through the book of Titus.
On this second episode, we discuss the characteristics that God says the aged women are to pattern their lives after. In pursuit of a well-ordered life, God gives clear instruction on how that is accomplished. We share what God taught us from out study of Titus 2:3 "The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;"
Time does not cause a life to be defined by these characteristics. These become the life of a believer as one moves grows in obedience and faith. As a woman continues in her sanctification process, holiness, a guarded tongue, Spirit-control, purpose, and the desire to influence others will take root in her heart and overflow into her actions.

Ep 65- Respectable Sins: Ungodliness
Thursday Feb 10, 2022
Thursday Feb 10, 2022
"Ungodliness may be defined as living one's everyday life with little or no thought of God, or of God's will, or of God's glory." -Jerry Bridges
Do you struggle with ungodliness? If you’re like me, your first thought would be, “I’m a Christian! Of course I don’t struggle with ungodliness!” We often equate ungodliness with those who have purposely chosen to live a life in opposition to Christ. As we dig into God's Word, I think you'll realize, as I did, that this is more of a battle in our lives than we might think!
In this episode, we discuss ...
-
What ungodliness is and how it differs from unrighteousness
-
The contrast between godliness and ungodliness
-
How we can live lives characterized by godliness
-
How we can teach our children to recognize ungodliness and flee it’s temptation

Ep 64- Mama’s Little Helpers
Thursday Feb 03, 2022
Thursday Feb 03, 2022
My littles get so excited about being my helpers! Daily, I hear Ivy's heavy footsteps down our hallway and her chant of "helper, helper, helper" as she runs to be involved in whatever I'm doing. Allowing my children to join in on the tasks of home and to fully embrace the opportunity to teach them how to be my helper is an area I've been slow to adopt. I'm a very task-oriented person. The more I can check off the list, the more successful the day was. In my haste and efficiency, I realized that I was missing out on an opportunity to invest in my relationship with my littles, to teach them how to manage a home well, and to be an active team member of our family. I've been working to slow down and let them be mama's little helpers. It's actually been quite the surprise to realize just how much they are a help to me! And tasks are always more fun when you do them with someone else!
In this episode, I share practical ways I've worked on having a perspective change in this area, as well as different chores and routines of home that I let my children take part in. It makes my mama heart swell when I see them taking initiative to help out around the home.
Sally Clarkson says, "Raising children, building a home, and passing on a legacy of righteousness is part of God's eternal design for the family." Often, I think that these things are accomplished in the big moments of life. The longer I go, the more I realize that they are actually achieved when everyday moments are lived out in faithful obedience. For today, that means doing laundry, washing dishes, and feeding my family. Letting my children join in on those things keeps us moving towards fulfilling God's perfect design for our family.

Ep 63- Taming Your Child’s Tongue with Ginger Hubbard
Monday Jan 31, 2022
Monday Jan 31, 2022
Ginger Hubbard is the bestselling author of I Can't Believe You Just Said That, Don't Make Me Count to Three, and Wise Words for Moms. I have read the first two books, and have been so challenged by Ginger's biblical approach to child training. She joins me in this episode to talk about the message in her book, I Can't Believe You Just Said That.
Do your children whine, tattle, complain, or lie? I'm guessing the answer is yes! Our children are sinners- just like their daddy's and mama's! Ginger encourages parents to go beyond behavior modification and to get to the heart of the issue. Every time our children sin, it gives us a sweet opportunity to show them the redemptive power of the Gospel. This perspective shift will enable the parent to respond in a biblical way and will impact the child as they learn to deal with sin in their own hearts.
