Ep 62- Meal Planning
Thursday Jan 27, 2022
Thursday Jan 27, 2022
As a wife and mama, much of my day is centered around the kitchen. Over the past year, I've been trying to implement things into my kitchen that help me "look well" (Prov 31:27) in the areas of planning, budgeting, providing healthy and delicious meals, and using our family table for ministry opportunities. An area that has given me much improvement in these goals has been meal planning. I am far from the expert on this, but I share some things that have helped me make my kitchen run smoother. In turn, this makes my life smoother!
In this episode, I discuss ...
-Creating a list of your favorite meals
-Incorporating new recipes
-How make the best meal choices to fit your schedule
-How to alleviate stress in meal planning
-Ways meal planning helps you be a wise steward of your finances

Ep 61- Respectable Sins: Our Sin Problem & the Solution
Thursday Jan 20, 2022
Thursday Jan 20, 2022
This is the first episode in the Respectable Sins Bible study we'll be going through during 2022. As Christians living in an increasing dark world, we often get so preoccupied with the gross sins of our culture that we neglect to deal with the subtle sins in our own hearts. The sins we will discuss together through this Bible study are not any different in the sense that they are all sins that Christ bore on the cross. They all condemned us to hell and required a perfect Lamb to be sacrificed to atone for their transgression against a holy God.
In this episode, we dive deep into our sin problem and it’s solution. We discuss …
-
The sinfulness of sin
-
The malignancy of sin
-
The forgiveness of sin
-
The repenting from sin
Personal application is made, as well as application on how we can teach our children these truths.

Titus 2 Talk- Lessons Learned from Titus
Monday Jan 17, 2022
Monday Jan 17, 2022
What a joy it is to have my spiritual mentor, Denise Palmer, joining me once a month for a Titus 2 Talk! On these special episodes, Denise and I will be doing a deep dive into the truths God has taught us through the book of Titus.
This first episode is an overview of the entire book, and we discuss lessons that God has taught us through our study. We look at the spiritual condition of Crete, the command God gave to the aged and younger women, what it means to live a well-ordered life, and how we can model a "pattern of good works" to others.
This overview will lead us into discussing the Titus 2 command that God gave to women. What do you do if you don't have a Titus 2 mentor? How do you find a younger woman to invest your life in? What is the purpose of a Titus 2 ministry? What blessings come from obedience to God in this area? What consequences come when we fail to obey God's command to disciple others? We look forward to addressing these questions straight from God's Word!

Ep 59- A Quiet, Contented Heart with Erin Bates Paine
Thursday Jan 06, 2022
Thursday Jan 06, 2022
Erin Bates Paine has been such an encouragement to me as I have watched her live a Christ-centered life in her marriage and motherhood. I couldn't image a better episode to kick off a new year of the No Higher Calling podcast!
Erin shares in this episode how she keeps her heart focused on eternity in the midst of the demands life brings. Her highest priority is her relationship with God. She says, "Our reactions and our responses stem from our relationship with the Lord."
We have many self-imposed ideas of what a perfect wife and mom looks like. As we pursue "perfection", we are left feeling defeated, frustrated, and overwhelmed. Instead, we should be striving to be genuine and sincere in our faith. If our children can grow up and say that their mommy loved God, loved their daddy, and loved them, that is a successful mother!

Ep 58- Having God‘s Greatest Blessing in 2022
Friday Dec 31, 2021
Friday Dec 31, 2021
Here we are on the precipice of a brand new year! It's been such a wonderful journey seeing all that God has done through No Higher Calling in 2021. In this last episode of the year, I want to close out the year seeking to be an encouragement to my listeners. Recently, a sermon was preached at our church that God used to speak to my heart. As I was praying for direction for this final episode of 2021, I believe God wants me to share what I learned through that sermon.
What is one blessing that you think, "If I could just have God break through in this situation, this would be the greatest blessing of 2022!"? What really is the greatest blessing we could receive from the Lord? The greatest blessing we could receive it to have God use our lives for His glory. Maybe that wasn't your answer to the question above, but it's true! The greatest thing God could do for you in 2022 is to use you.
We see this lived out in the lives of different characters in the Christmas story. Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, the wise men- all of these people were faithful in their ordinary callings. It was out of the ordinary, that God used them to accomplish something extraordinary!
Ladies, let's be faithful in the everyday ordinary tasks God has called us to. Let's be faithful to obey God in every area. Labor for the Lord and keep you eyes stayed on Him. He may not give you a spectacular story, but He WILL do with your life whatever brings Him most glory, and you most good. Whether that's accomplished by faithful service or a miraculous moment is His to decide. As we enter a new year, my challenge to you is to determine to obey however He leads!

Ep 56- Preparing for a New Year
Thursday Dec 23, 2021
Thursday Dec 23, 2021
Ready or not, we are about to enter a new year! I always love starting a new year. It's a fresh start, and a good opportunity to take inventory of my life and ask God what He has for me in the new year.
Over the years, my goal-setting has changed, and this year is probably the most different year yet. As I've gotten older and grown in my walk with Christ, I seek to bathe each new year in prayer and to know God's mind as I try to make changes and set goals. This year, God has led me to some specific things that I can measure and check of my list, and others are more difficult to measure. He continues to guide my heart to those things, so I will follow.
Maybe some of my struggle is not knowing what 2022 will look like for our family. I think many of us feel that way. What will 2022 look like on a world-wide scale? Only God knows! But we can face the new year with courage because God goes before us, and we are victorious in Him!
I'm so excited to see all that God has in store for the upcoming year. We have a certain future, and it is one of hope and joy!

Ep 55- Simple, Natural Living with Rebecca Grant
Thursday Dec 16, 2021
Thursday Dec 16, 2021
The past few years have had our family on a journey towards more simple, natural living. I've been learning about the products and foods we have in our home, and have been taking small steps to switch out toxic products for more healthy options. The more I learn, the more I realize the importance of being a wise steward in the choices of what we allow to affect our bodies.
Rebecca Grant joins me in today's episode to discuss the path to simple, natural living. She addresses why this is an important topic to address in your home, and easy ways to switch out toxic products for cleaner options.

Ep 54- A Christ-Centered Christmas
Thursday Dec 09, 2021
Thursday Dec 09, 2021
The Christmas season brings so many distractions. I think I'd be safe to assume that we've all had Decembers where we end the month exhausted, overwhelmed, and so happy that all the hype is over. I know I've had years like that! The older my kids get, the more intentional I have to be to guard our hearts and homes from being consumed with things that are secondary. I love every tradition, celebration, party, and so on, but where does the emphasis of Christmas really lie?
In this episode, I share ways that God has helped me, as the homemaker, keep Christ the center of our home during Christmas. Most of what we do flows out of what we do throughout the rest of the year. If Christ hasn't been the focal point of our home throughout the year, it will be hard to flip a switch and make Him preeminent in December.
These are some specific ways we seek to keep Christ in His proper place in our home during Christmas, but really all throughout the year:
-Playing Christ-honoring music
-Memorizing Scripture as a family
-Studying the Bible together
-Looking for Gospel opportunities
How do you keep Christ the center of your Christmas?
